Ixtapa México

Ixtapa is a beach resort located in the municipality of Zihuatanejo de Azueta, in the Mexican state of Guerrero. It was planned as a resort by the National Fund for Tourism Promotion in 1968, using a special fund provided by the Bank of Mexico to create new tourist destinations along the country’s coast. Construction began in 1970, and the resort opened in 1974. Today, it is one of Mexico’s main tourist destinations, receiving on average a little more than 2 million visitors each year.
